    This session is designed specifically related to teaching PK-12 Science curriculum divided into five modules:

    • Curriculum & Instruction: Examine student-centered pedagogical approaches and instructional practices for synchronous and asynchronous activities.
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice: Delve into teacher competencies that promote culturally responsive teaching.
    • Assessment & Feedback: Share formative and summative assessment practices for F2F, online, and hybrid environments.
    • Social Emotional Learning: Explore ways to mitigate and address the social and emotional needs of all learners.
    • Virtual Learning: Harvest the collective knowledge of the group around best practices and resources for virtual teaching.

    * This session will use both Canvas and Zoom.

    Meet the presenters:

    Amanda Brown

    Amanda Brown has been in education for 7 years teaching both in and out of the classroom with nonprofit organizations, public schools, and international schools. With experience teaching students in grades 2-5, developing curriculum, and forming community partnerships, she seeks to empower students to make a difference in their environment by engaging them in local conservation efforts. Serving her community through conservation volunteer work is a passion that follows her through education and travel as she engages students and develops their understanding about the world around them.

    Diane Holloway

    After a career in oil and gas, Diane started teaching science in the United States and then discovered international teaching.  Now, more than 20 years later, she has taught science for grade 6-10, experienced teaching MYP and NGSS science classes, as well as teaching Theory of Knowledge.  She has taught in Pakistan, (International School of Karachi), Japan (Osaka International School) , China ( Beijing City International School, International School of Tianjin), Bulgaria (Anglo American School of Sofia), Peru (Colegio Roosevelt) and the Domincan Republic (Carol Morgan School).  She has served as department head for MS Science and a variety of curriculum related committees.
