This session is designed specifically related to teaching PK-12 World Languages and English as an Additional Language curriculum divided into five modules:
- Curriculum & Instruction: Examine student-centered pedagogical approaches and instructional practices for synchronous and asynchronous activities.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice: Delve into teacher competencies that promote culturally responsive teaching.
- Assessment & Feedback: Share formative and summative assessment practices for F2F, online, and hybrid environments.
- Social Emotional Learning: Explore ways to mitigate and address the social and emotional needs of all learners.
- Virtual Learning: Harvest the collective knowledge of the group around best practices and resources for virtual teaching.

Meet the presenters:
Doshila Neergheen
Doshila is a learner-centered teacher, with a keen interest in using growth mindset and storytelling to engage language learners. Hailing from Mauritius, she is multilingual, speaking fluent English, French, Creole, Hindi and currently learning Mandarin. She holds a BA degree in Psychology and specializes in international teaching, having taught the British (IGCSE) as well as French Baccalaureate (OIB) curricula for several years in international schools in Singapore, before moving to Shanghai in September 2020, where she is currently teaching English language at an international school. Passionate about connecting with students and providing a safe learning space for them to achieve their goals, she has researching on the importance of cultural access in bilingualism for her Masters in Education thesis which she completed this year. She facilitated a peer presentation on the power of storytelling and growth mindset pedagogy at the ACAMIS ELL conference in Shanghai in April 2021.
Mats Haaland
Currently working as the Director of EAL at Nansha College Preparatory Academy in South China, Mats Haaland has spent the great majority of his educational career working within the context of EAL, language immersion environments, and the co-taught classroom. He has taken on the role of co-teacher, instructional coach, and program coordinator. Prior to working in China, Mats also spent time teaching in public schools in Italy and Poland. Mats earned his MA TESOL from the School for International Training Graduate Institute and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in educational leadership.
